What to Expect?

Pusat Ikan Hiasan, or Ornamental Fish Center, is an aquarium and marine conservation facility at Teluk Kemang managed by Malaysia Fisheries Department. Open to public daily from 10am till 4pm, the center showcases a huge collection of popular marine fish, corals and other sea creatures in the aquarium trade. The center also raises and displays sea turtles from hatchlings to adulthood. Admission is free.

The centre is located at the northern end of Port Dickson’s Teluk Kemang beach and sea water from the bay is pumped into the centre’s storage tanks for cleaning and treatment before being used in their aquariums. The fish tanks are spotlessly clean meaning that visitors can obtain a clear view of the various fish, coral and marine creatures on display here.

Some of the stars of this marine conservation and aquarium are the sea horses, puffer fish, stonefish, clown fish, baby green turtles, hawksbill turtles, and coral reefs. Besides allowing its visitors the rare opportunity to get up close with rare aquatic creatures, the centre is designed to inspire people of all ages and from all walks of life to appreciate and take responsibility for the marine environment. The highlight of your tour here would be the opportunity to observe and witness real baby sea turtles paddling their tiny flippers in bubbling waters in the safety of large tanks as the centre also serve as a hatchery, allowing visitors to learn more about the lifecycle of these amazing creatures.

Outside the entrance is the turtle nursery comprising a number of tanks containing turtles ranging from cute tiny hatchlings to juveniles. The species on show were Hawksbill sea turtles, Leatherback sea turtles and Green sea turtles (which were not green at all).

As a fan of sea creatures, I truly love this place! No admission tickets. Clean toilets. Really well maintained aquariums. HUGE TURTLES! Will definitely recommend this place and come here again myself :)

Small but the aquariums were well maintained. I wasn’t aware that the center is also a turtle rehabilitation center, so I was in awe to see so many turtles, big and small, up close. The coral reefs were beautiful too. Lots of families visiting during the long weekend, and I’d highly recommend this place.

    Access could have been improved.

Many variety of sealife consists of fish, crab, seahorse, sea cucumber, coral. What makes it brilliant is no fee were charge except for parking around RM3. You may also view turtle rehabilitation outside the main entrance. It important to preserve the turtle's life. Recommended to bring kids here.
