What to Expect?

Witness the diverse and unique fauna of Malaysia with a visit to KL Bird Park, a 21-acre aviary that's also a renowned eco-tourism destination within Kuala Lumpur. Get picked up from your hotel/accommodation within the Kuala Lumpur city area and experience a comfortable one way transfer to the park.
Once you're there, you're free to spend the rest of the day exploring the park's different amenities, such as Hornbill Park, Bul Bul Land, and more.

Check out the 200 fascinating bird species inside, including Sulfur-Crested Cockatoos, Yellow-billed Storks, and the Crowned Pigeon, the largest pigeon species in the world! In an adventurous mood? Experience the makings of a lush rainforest as you step into the Free-flight Walk-in Aviary, filled with lush trees, wild vines, flowing rivers, and hundreds of birds freely milling about.

Get up close and personal with the birds as you join feeding activities and watch the exciting shows and performances scheduled throughout the day! Rest and recharge at the Sandwich Bar or at the park's kiosks, where you can enjoy some refreshing fresh coconuts, cool off with ice cream, or go for some savory food. Remember to pick up a souvenir from the gift shop on your way out to remind you of this fun day in nature!

The park is divided into 4 zones:

Zone 1 and 2 make up the free-flight zone;

Zone 3 is the Hornbill Park and Zone 4 is where the birds are placed in separate cages and mini aviaries.

One of KL Bird Park's most extraordinary feature is that in Zone 1, 2 and 3, birds are let free in the aviary which closely resembles their natural habitat. With this free-flight concept, birds are able to breed naturally in this unique environment.

The main feature that distinguishes KL Bird Park from any other bird parks is the concept of free-flight.

This concept of free-flight not only provide the patrons of the park, kids and adults alike, with an experience that closely resembles life in a tropical rainforest, but it is also perhaps the best way to ensure the survival and species continuity of these birds.

- Visit KL Bird Park, a renowned eco-tourism destination and home to more than 200 different bird species

No line for tickets on a weekend but we came early. Avoided the crowd by avoiding bird feeding times, but generally not too bad.

The paths were a bit steep at areas and slightly slippery because it was after the rain. They had closed one of the paths that was stroller friendly and we had to carry the stroller up the stairs as there were no alternatives if we didn’t want to turn back. I think this was an oversight as the other areas of the park were fine and it was otherwise quite pleasant to walk around.

Birds looked healthy and well cared for, and there were a large variety of beautiful birds that were easily spotted. Wasn’t uncommon to see birds flying around and swooping nearby. Aviary was quite clean.

    Overall a pleasant experience!

👍 Great time for family with kids. Birds are friendly here and being to walk around them was nice. May colorful birds to see. If you are lucky - see the peacock open his “crown” feathers. Just a bit careful for kids as some parts a bit slippery. We are able to buy tickets without much wait but for locals perhaps get it online slightly cheaper. Kids below 3 is free 😁 . Whole park walk took about 1.5 hours to 2 hours. Also do not recommend trolley as the walk at zone 2 has some stairs - you might not wanna carry it up 😅

Suggest to start your trip to this place as early as 10 am or so.. so that you can have ample time to finish your day around 2 pm when the weather is hot. Around noon, the monkeys started to come out from the nearby bush to steal the birds foods.
Do not miss the bird show at 12.30 noon. Next show is at 3 pm.
For those with babies, the road is stroller friendly.
Do visit the souvenir shop and also the nearby restaurant for lunch before you go back home.
Don't forget to look at the weather forecast before you come.
Such a lovely place to spend the short weekend in the middle of the city.

Decent birds collection. Bird show was good. Play area for kids is very useful.

Make sure you are hydrated. We got there using hop on/off service. Really good to see that the birds were open. Good variety.

Visited in July 2009 and again in 2018
