History
The cape is well known for the Cape Rachado Lighthouse facing the Strait of Malacca. The coastal area off the cape is famous as the site of the naval Battle of Cape Rachado in 1606, between the Dutch VOC and Portuguese fleets. The battle was the opening act for the series of conflicts between the Dutch-Johor coalition and Portuguese Malacca that ultimately ended with the Portuguese surrender of the city and fort of Malacca to the VOC in 1641.

Today, this area has been designated by BirdLife International as an Important Bird Area. The Malaysian Nature Society is active in promoting conservation in the area. Visitors can find wildlifes in the area.

a week agoReasonable number of parking at the bottom of the hill. Pleasant hike up the hill although some parts were quite steep. There were smaller paths into the woods which I didnt explore. Nice photo spots at the lighthouse. There is also a track down to the beach which I didnt have time to explore fully. Could not see the beach from the track due to thick vegetation. Would probably need about half a day to a day to explore. Recommended

2 months agoWalking to the light house requires around 20 minutes while further walking to the beach will require another 20 minutes to 30 minutes depends on how fast you walk. The cleanliness of the beach is 4 out of 5 stars, the water is clean, just that the beach has a bit of rubbishes (but is still acceptable as compared to other beaches nearby). I would comment the beach as a hidden gem 💎. As for the light house, nothing interesting to view.

3 months agoA nice place for a hike with a clean trail. Look out for monkeys! We will be back to explore. There are beaches around as well so you can make it a hike and a beach picnic!

3 months agoThis is a good place to get in touch with greenery and nature. Visited later part of the evening, but the side gate was still opened. Was a bit worried about the wild monkeys around. The climb up to Richardo cape station took about 10 minutes, it's not a very long walk. The paved roads are comfortable to walk. There are small walking paths towards inside the forest area to explore. Overall a nice experience.

3 months agoIt's a easy trail where you can hike with some basic fitness. The aerial view of the beach from the peak is very beautiful. The peak area with white rocks is quite small and only can accommodate limited people (around 10) at one time. There are few trails where you can head to the beach. Overall nice place for weekend recreation.
