What to Expect?

Batu Hitam beach is one of the famous recreation place for the local residents. The beach got its name from its special feature of beds of dark black and grey rock formations scattered along the seashore. It is called black stone beach due to the dark coloured (dark grey to black) stones and rocks at the beach. This beach is one of the places where local beach anglers go to wet their lines.

There is a group of big black stone along the beach that s believe to have originated from an ancient volcano eruption. The fantastic view of this beach, with black stones sparkling in the sun and the amazing beach, is a sight to behold. Fishes tend to hide out around rocks and there are plenty of rocks for them to hide out at.

Activities there include swimming, sightseeing, picnic, camping and finding a seashells.

Not far from this beach there is a seafood stall where you can indulge yourself in local cooking. The most recommended dish there is the grilled fish, known as Ikan Bakar. There are plenty of local Malay eataries and food stalls to choose from. If you are not up for beach activities, sitting down in the food stalls and sipping a tea to lay back and relax is certainly an ideal option to hang out by the beach.

A great beach to visit! Lot of stall nearby the beach. And also great activity that can enjoy with. Playing kite, ride a horse or ATV bike, having a picnic.

    Really beautiful.
Stalls right on beach, can enjoy food and great scenery at the same time.
Went there on a weekday, so plenty of parking space available. But a local infomed us that parking is packed during weekend and holidays.

Great place to spend the weekend. There are concrete benches to sit on. And the water front is paved with concrete sidewalk. You can actually park your car right at the water's edge, one of a few places you can do in and around Kuantan. You can sit around for a nice picnic and there are food stalls selling hot foods to order from.
